The Paso Robles Community Services Department announced on Apr. 1 that applications are open for several board and advisory body positions, with a deadline of Thursday, April 30 by 5:00 p.m. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for May 13 or May 14. Positions are available on the Library Board of Trustees, Youth Commission, Senior Citizen Advisory Committee, and the newly established Arts and Culture Board.
These boards and committees help gather public input to assist city decision-making. Members serve two- to three-year terms starting July 1 each year.
Angelica Fortin, Director of Community Services for the City of Paso Robles, said: “The City’s Boards and Advisory Bodies provide Paso Robles residents with a meaningful way to contribute to their community and help shape its future. We encourage community members who are passionate about making a difference to apply and get involved in these important committees.”
The new Arts and Culture Board will advise on visual art in public spaces within city-owned or leased areas. This five-member board will meet quarterly or as needed depending on project timelines. Terms will be staggered: one partial-term position for one year, two partial-term positions for two years, and two full-term positions for three years.
The Library Board of Trustees advises on library matters including policy development, program recommendations, and community feedback. The board meets monthly in person on the second Thursday at 9:00 a.m., with two full-term (three-year) seats and one partial-term (one-year) seat open.
The Youth Commission provides opportunities for youth ages 14–21 to collaborate with local government. The commission meets monthly in person on the first Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., offering five full two-year terms plus one partial one-year term this cycle.
For seniors interested in civic engagement, the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee has one open position for a full three-year term; it meets monthly in person on the second Monday at 1:30 p.m.
Further information is available by contacting City Librarian Melissa Bailey regarding library trustee roles or Recreation Services Manager Lynda Plescia regarding other committee openings.
