Paso Robles police arrest man for brandishing ghost gun during road rage incident

On December 11, 2025, the Paso Robles Police Department responded to a report of a road rage incident near Spring Street and 9th Street. According to authorities, a male suspect allegedly brandished a handgun at another driver during the altercation.

Officers located the suspect’s vehicle in the area of 13th Street and River Road shortly after the call. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted, and officers took Jay Alba, age 56 of Paso Robles, into custody without injury to any parties involved. Police recovered a ghost gun from Alba’s vehicle.

Alba was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on several charges: exhibiting a firearm in the presence of motor vehicle occupants (PC 417.3), felon in possession of a firearm (PC 29800(a)(1)), carrying a loaded firearm in public without a concealed carry permit (PC 25850(a)), felon in possession of ammunition (PC 30305(a)(1)), possession of a high-capacity magazine (PC 32310(a)), and possession of a firearm without a serial number (PC 29180(c)).

The Paso Robles Police Department stated that there is no current risk to the public and that their investigation is ongoing.
