The City of Paso Robles is inviting leaders from local churches, temples, synagogues, and other faith-based organizations to deliver invocations at the start of City Council meetings in 2026. The meetings are scheduled for the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Leaders who participate may offer any prayer or reflection they choose, allowing for a variety of faith traditions to be represented. According to the city, this initiative aims to expand an existing tradition by encouraging broader participation from the local faith community.

A 2014 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed that sectarian invocations at government meetings are allowed. Paso Robles is acting in accordance with this decision as it opens its invitation to more groups.

Those interested in leading an invocation can contact the City Clerk’s Office at 805-237-3960 or email cityclerk@prcity.com for more information about available dates and details.
