Cal Poly softball first baseman Myleigh Cooper was named to both the All-Big West second team and the conference all-freshman team on May 5. Cooper is recognized for her performance during her first season, in which she started and appeared in all 46 games.
Cooper led Cal Poly with a .378 batting average, ranking ninth among Big West hitters. Her average is also the 14th highest single-season mark in program history. In Big West play, she batted .383 over 27 games.
She topped the team’s lineup with 51 hits, a .511 slugging percentage, 69 total bases, three home runs, and recorded 16 multi-hit games. Defensively, Cooper posted a .987 fielding percentage with only three errors in 235 chances.
With this selection, Cooper becomes Cal Poly’s fourth Big West All-Freshman Team honoree in the past five seasons.
