Pole vaulter Lexi Evans has been named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Division I Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field Third Team. The announcement was made Tuesday.

Evans, who is from San Diego, is among 45 athletes selected for this year’s CSC Academic All-America women’s track & field/cross country team and one of 15 on the Third Team. Her selection marks the fourth consecutive year that a Cal Poly track and field athlete has earned CSC Academic All-American recognition.

She becomes the 15th athlete in Cal Poly history to receive this honor and only the seventh from track & field or cross country, joining Davis Bove, John Bennett, Emily Hallett, Alex Merder, Robin Root, and Jill Ellingsen.

Evans recently finished her junior season as an aerospace engineering major. This spring, she broke Cal Poly’s women’s pole vault record by more than five inches at the Mark Conover Classic and secured her second straight Big West title in pole vault. She became just the fourth athlete in conference history to win back-to-back titles in that event. At the NCAA West Preliminary meet—her third consecutive appearance—she cleared 14 feet, 2 inches (4.32 meters), finishing tied for 14th place and narrowly missing qualification for the NCAA Championships in Eugene by two spots.

In addition to her athletic achievements, Evans is recognized for academic excellence. She is a two-time Big West All-Academic selection and has twice been named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Athlete.

“Evans is the 15th athlete in Cal Poly history to receive CSC Academic All-America honors and the seventh track & field/cross country athlete, joining Davis Bove, John Bennett, Emily Hallett, Alex Merder, Robin Root and Jill Ellingsen.”
