About 24.7 percent of the 5,442 degrees and certificates handed out by California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in 2017-18 were to students in engineering programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency’s National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Obispo conferred 1202 bachelor’s degrees and 137 master’s degrees in engineering programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor’s degree in general business administration and management. Data shows the school gave out 605 bachelor’s degrees in general business administration and management, followed by 247 bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and 196 bachelor’s degrees in general biology/biological sciences.

The university enrolled 22,013 students for 2017-18, including 21,098 in undergraduate programs and 915 in graduate programs.
