Five members of the Cal Poly women’s tennis team received All-Big West honors, the conference office announced on April 30. Senior Kennedy Buntrock led the group with a First Team selection in singles.
The recognition comes after another strong season for the Mustangs, who advanced to their sixth consecutive Big West Championship match and recorded at least 13 victories for the sixth year in a row. This is also the second straight year that at least five players from Cal Poly have earned All-Big West accolades.
Alongside Buntrock’s First Team singles honor, sophomore Jessica MacCallum was named to the Second Team in singles, while senior Alexandra Ozerets received Honorable Mention recognition. In doubles, junior Candela Aparisi and redshirt sophomore Natalie Lynch were selected for the Second Team as a pair.
Buntrock has now earned All-Big West honors four times during her career at Cal Poly. She played primarily at No. 1 singles this season, finishing with a 12-7 overall record and defeating No. 53-ranked Hannah Read from San Diego earlier in the year. Her career total of 45 dual singles wins ties her for seventh most in program history.
MacCallum posted a 12-8 record playing mostly at No. 2 singles and ended her season on a five-match winning streak, including two wins at the Big West Championships. Ozerets finished with a team-best record of 14-9 in her final season and set a new Division I program record for dual singles wins with an overall mark of 58-32.
Aparisi and Lynch achieved a team-leading doubles record of 12-7 this year, including five conference victories together. This marks Lynch’s second consecutive year receiving all-conference honors while Aparisi earns recognition in her first season since transferring from Oregon.
