The Cal Poly men’s tennis team secured its second home win in three days with a 6-1 victory over New Mexico at the Ronca Tennis Center on Monday. The Mustangs, now 2-1 this season, dropped the doubles point but responded by sweeping all six singles matches.
Sean Kamyshev gave Cal Poly its first singles win at No. 5, defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-3. Shortly after, Jack Cross added another point with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4. Aaron Eliscu continued the team’s momentum by winning his match at No. 6, 6-2, 6-4.
Luc Hoeijmans clinched the dual for the Mustangs at No. 3 singles with a score of 6-3, 6-3. The final two singles matches went to three sets: Jovan Lubbe claimed a victory at No. 1 (6-3, 3-6, 6-2), and Raz Haviv completed a comeback at No. 2 (4-6, 6-1, 6-4).
Following these results, all six Cal Poly players have improved to a record of 2-1 in singles play for the season.
Cal Poly will continue its homestand with upcoming matches against Nevada on Friday and Loyola Marymount on Sunday.
