Cal Poly Men’s Tennis has released its 2026 spring schedule, as announced by Head Coach Nick Carless and Director of Athletics Carter Henderson. The announcement comes after a fall season that saw the team rebuild its roster and show signs of progress.

Coach Carless, entering his 15th year at Cal Poly, expressed optimism following recent changes to the lineup. The Mustangs will return five players from last year’s squad, which finished with an 8-15 record and reached the quarterfinals of the Big West Championship.

Reflecting on the fall season, the team participated in several tournaments including the Sherwood Collegiate Cup, where they posted a 14-8 singles record against strong national programs. Freshman Jovan Lubbe made an impact with a win over a UCLA player. Israeli teammates Sean Kamyshev and Raz Haviv also performed well, winning all their matches on the first day.

At the Big West Masters Qualifier, Lubbe advanced to the singles semifinals and teamed up with Kamyshev to compete for the doubles title. Aaron Eliscu reached the final of a satellite invitational event. Newcomers Denzel Seetso and Derek Hafiz each recorded their first collegiate victories during this period.

The Mustangs competed in additional events such as the USTA SoCal Intercollegiates and Aggie Invitational, where several players advanced to quarterfinal rounds in both singles and doubles competitions. Their fall campaign concluded at the ITA Southwest Regionals with a perfect start in singles play and notable wins in doubles matches.

Looking ahead to spring 2026, Cal Poly’s schedule includes challenging non-conference matchups as well as Big West Conference contests. The season opens on January 16 at Cal before returning home for matches against Saint Mary’s (January 31) and New Mexico (February 2) at Ronca Tennis Center. Other home events include tri-meets featuring Nevada (February 6), LMU (February 7), San Diego State (March 6), and Pacific (March 8).

Road trips are scheduled for Spokane—where they will play Weber State (February 15) and Gonzaga (February 16)—and Chicago for a quad-dual series against DePaul, Dartmouth (both February 28), and Army (February 29). Additional away games include Boise State (March 13), Montana State (March 14), Denver at home (March 23), and Santa Clara on March 25.

In what will be their final season under the current conference alignment, Cal Poly hosts UC Davis (April 3), UC San Diego (April 4), and UC Santa Barbara (April 17). Away conference matches are set for Hawai’i (March 28), UC Riverside (April 9), and UC Irvine (April 10).

The season concludes with participation in the Big West Championship from April 23-26 in La Jolla, California.

“With a rebuilt roster and momentum from a productive fall, Head Coach Nick Carless and Director of Athletics Carter Henderson have announced the 2026 spring schedule for Cal Poly Men’s Tennis.”
