The Cal Poly men’s soccer team has announced the addition of center back Peyton Marmion to its roster during November’s signing period. Marmion, who is from Sacramento, played for Sacramento Republic FC’s MLS NEXT program and recently helped the club’s U17 team reach the 2025 MLS NEXT Cup semifinals before being called up to the first team.
Head coach Oige Kennedy commented on the new signing: “We’re very excited to add Peyton to our group in the class of 2026. He comes to us from one of the best MLS NEXT clubs in Sac Republic who have become a factory for developing talented players for both the collegiate and professional level.
“From our early evaluations with Peyton, we could see immediately his desire to compete in each and every action on the field. He’s intense in defending duels and combative in the air when attacking the ball off set pieces. These attributes translate well to the college game and we’re excited to add another top talent from California to our roster.”
Marmion attended Jesuit High School where he was named to the dean’s list. His father, Colm, played soccer at Sacramento State between 1996 and 1999, while his mother, Erin, played softball for Sacramento State from 1997 through 2000. Marmion plans to major in business administration.
