Cal Poly men’s golf freshman Rafael Bobo-Lloret leads the Bill Cullum Invitational after posting a three-under 69 in the second round at Saticoy Club. Bobo-Lloret’s performance, which included three birdies and no bogeys, gave him a two-round total of 140, placing him one stroke ahead of Cal State Fullerton’s William Tanaka.
The Mustangs share first place with host CSUN after Monday’s play was suspended due to darkness. Both teams are five shots ahead of Gonzaga.
Sophomore Nolan Kuszyk made significant progress by moving up 44 spots into fourth place after recording six birdies in his second round, which he will complete Tuesday. Junior Louis Pilod, competing as an independent, is in tenth place following rounds of 75 and 74.
Senior Sean Lehman and freshman Zihao Wang are tied for 28th with their second rounds to be finished on Tuesday. Graduate player Kyle Dougherty sits in 43rd place at nine-over par, highlighted by an eagle on the sixth hole during his morning round.
Junior Leo Metzger and junior Jack Jarvis are two shots behind Dougherty; both had multiple birdies in their afternoon rounds. Junior Reese Sato, also playing as an independent, is in 65th position after two rounds with five birdies.
Second round play will resume Tuesday at 7:30 a.m., followed by the third round.
