Senior Aaron Eliscu has been named Big West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, according to an April 21 announcement. This marks the first time since February 2025 that a member of the Cal Poly Mustangs men’s tennis team has received this honor.
Eliscu earned recognition after his performance on senior night against No. 35 UC Santa Barbara, where he defeated No. 57 Dominique Rolland and ended Rolland’s eight-match winning streak. His win evened the overall match score and helped set up a Mustang teammate to secure a share of the Big West Championship.
This season, Eliscu holds a team second-best singles dual record at 12–6, including a 3–2 record at the No. 2 position. It was only his seventh time competing in one of the top three singles spots during his collegiate career.
In previous seasons, Eliscu posted a 5–4 singles record as a junior, mostly playing at No. 6 with one appearance at No. 5; he went winless in singles as a sophomore and recorded three wins as a freshman across various positions.
Before joining Cal Poly, Eliscu was recognized as a four-star prospect by TennisRecruiting.net and ranked as high as No. 76 nationally in his class while being Arizona’s top recruit.
Following their upset over UCSB, Cal Poly is now ranked No. 72 in ITA rankings and will enter this week’s Big West Championship tournament as the third seed.
